Our goal is to maximize your donation to help the local community impacted by crisis or disaster, and to make funds available to the local coalition supporting the community as rapidly as possible. Because of that Out of Rubble will not take a cut from your donation marked for specific disasters Nor will we try to hold funds to accrue interest from the donation to fund the administration.

We also look at crisis a little bit differently. We work with the local community and the local Restoration Coalition to develop clear outcomes we are all working together to achieve. This avoids creating a culture of ‘perpetual crisis’ in order to solicit more funds and wasteful utilization of the donation on services or support that other organizations are already providing. We will not send out calls for donations for the same crisis for months and years after the initial funding goal is reached. Out of Rubble promotes the idea that the goal should be able to get a community back onto its feet, or better, and then refocus on being prepared for the next crisis.

Out of Rubble is also committed to having a sustainable approach to crisis ministry. To ensure that the local coalitions can properly plan for and utilize the grants provided by the donations, we break up the donation pool into phases for emergency distribution. An initial portion of the funds are committed to be distributed within 30 days (60 days for larger events) for emergency response efforts. A smaller portion of the funds are committed to be distributed over the next 6 months (12 months for larger events). The last portion of the funds are committed to any outstanding projects that need additional funds to reach their intended outcomes. If for some reason a funding goal is not reached, then we scale back our grants and work to adjust the outcomes appropriately.
